TATOC, The Timeshare Association (Timeshare Owners and Committees), urged delegates attending its annual conference at The Belfry Hotel in Nottingham, England, from 26-28 March, to spread the word about the benefits of timeshare.
Mark Cushway of Resorts Properties told delegates that everyone involved with timeshare had the opportunity to change the industry in a positive way. “It is time that the thousands of happy owners start shouting about how great their timeshare is,” he said.
The sentiment was seconded by TATOC’s CEO, Harry Taylor, who encouraged all members to take part in a campaign to help reduce negative perceptions about timeshare and generate balanced media coverage by emailing a testimonial to email@example.com. Mr Taylor added: “It is time we became proud of owning this great holiday product – so tell your stories!”.
Under the theme “Working Together”, the conference also included presentations by Stephen Cloobeck of Diamond Resorts and Ramy Filo, president of the Australian Timeshare and Holiday Ownership Council (ATHOC), amongst others.
In a panel discussion about exit routes, industry experts agreed that this is one of the most challenging issues both the industry and owners face at the moment. They concluded that industry and owners need to work closer together to address this issue, and pledge to meet again in the near future to discuss the next steps.
