RDO member Flagship Consulting has been shortlisted for a prestigious PRCA (Public Relations Consultants Association) award for its work on the English Language Day ‘Location Lingo’ campaign.
The campaign is shortlisted for the coveted Media Relations Award and was focused around helping the client, education charity The English Project, to encourage the UK public to actively participate in English Language Day by submitting their favourite examples of ‘Location Lingo’ (local place name nicknames).
One of the main aims was for PR to drive more submissions to The English Project’s website than when the campaign first ran in 2009.
The results achieved by Flagship included: securing almost 90 pieces of national and regional print coverage; BBC and local radio features including Radio 4’s ‘Today’ programme and Radio 5 ‘Drive’; plus online coverage across lifestyle and cultural websites.
The campaign received just under 3,000 submissions from the public – 25% more than achieved for 2009’s ‘English Language Day’.
