Holiday Club Resorts has announced details of a major tourism project to build a 222-room spa hotel and 300 timeshare apartments in the historical Rauha area of Lappeenranta, on Finland’s Lake Saimaa.
The spa at Holiday Club Saimaa will be ready in summer 2011 and will employ 250 people, providing a considerable boost to the local economy. It is expected that the whole area will have 8,000 beds by 2020, with a total investment of 200 million euros.
The spa hotel will include a water park with treatment areas, restaurants, and a multipurpose ice arena with capacity for up to 4000 people, suitable for conferences, concerts and all sorts of ice sports. An 18-hole golf course with a driving range will also be added
