New Research Show that Air Passenger Duty (APD) in the UK damages the economy

Tourism Alliance, the trade body which RDO UK joined this January, has completed research that points to the UK losing out on £1 billion this year from “missed" inbound tourism because tourism taxes are putting off foreign visitors from coming to the UK.

The new research finds that APD has already cost the UK economy over 23,000 jobs in the last 7 years and if the government sticks to its plans to increase APD again, it will cost a further 6,000 jobs and an additional £1 billion by 2017.

Tourism Alliance is opposed to the proposed increase and has issued a press release highlighting its assessment that the imposition of APD costs the UK dearly.
