Representatives from RDO Spain and the Enforcement Project met last month with the Spanish European Consumer Centre (ECC) and the National Consumer Institute to review their ongoing cooperation in the fight against fraud.
The meeting served to share the latest information about fraudulent activities in the vacation ownership industry, including details of the most active companies at the moment, and to co-ordinate the appropriate response.
RDO agreed to provide the ECC with a monthly update on new suspected fraudulent companies and any claims received by either RDO or any of its members. The ECC will review this information and agree with RDO whether the police should be informed or any other action should be taken.
The ECC network also receives regular updates from the Office of Fair Trading, proof of the increasing levels of coordination in the fight against fraud at European level.
