Timeshare clubs in South Africa to provide accommodation for World Cup

Major timeshare clubs will provide nearly 200,000 room nights for football fans during the 2010 FIFA World Cup in various resorts across South Africa, following an agreement between VOASA, the Vacation Ownership Association of Southern Africa and MATCH, FIFA’s service agent for accommodation.

The agreement is part of the MATCH Ville concept which offers “follow your team” accommodation and transportation services for the duration of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, available primarily through FIFA’s network of participating tour operators.

Timeshare owners are invited to make their timeshare weeks available to the rental pool between 4 June and 16 July 2010. Interested parties can contact info@africanspace.co.za for further information.

FIFA requires at least 55,000 rooms, equivalent to 1.5 million nights, during the 2010 FIFA World Cup to accommodate the teams, officials, media, sponsors and special programmes such as tour operator and hospitality packages. There are currently 40,000 rooms contracted, with the organisers also looking for additional accommodation in neighbouring countries.
