RDO announces great value rates for 2010 Conferences

The Resort Development Organisation (RDO) has unveiled more details of this year’s RDO 1 Conference, including great value delegate rates which represent savings of up to 50% on the 2008 conference rates.

With the theme "The Road Ahead", RDO 1 will be held at the Don Carlos Leisure Resort & Spa in Marbella (Spain), on 5-6 October 2010.  The RDO Golf Competition will kick off the conference activities on 4 October, followed by a welcome cocktail reception for delegates in the evening.


Two New Vacation Clubs Join Interval International

Anna Grand Hotel Vacation Club in Hungary and Porto Vacation Club in Egypt have joined Interval International’s vacation exchange network. 

The 200-year-old Anna Grand Hotel is set in the historic town of Balatonfüred, on the northern shore of Hungary’s Lake Balaton. The classicist-style property has been renovated, with new amenities including a gourmet restaurant, a winery, and a 1,200 square metre wellness area with steam baths, hot tubs and saunas.  Guests can enjoy the nearby volcanic mountains of Badacsony, water sports on Lake Balaton and visits to local wineries.


New Wyndham Timeshare Resort at National Harbor Off to a Flying Start

Wyndham Worldwide has reported that more than 75 per cent of units at Wyndham Vacation Resorts at National Harbor, their newly opened urban resort on Prince George’s County, Washington D.C.,  have already been sold.

The new resort, which opened in January, offers stylish accommodations in 250 condominium-style units including 42 presidential suites, as well as a health and fitness centre and several swimming pools.

Marriott Vacation Club Opens its 50th Timeshare Resort

The Marriott Vacation Club recently held the grand opening of its 50th timeshare resort, the Marriott Oceana Palms on Singer Island, on Florida’s gold coast.
 
The first phase of the timeshare resort is called the Palm Beaches and features a 19-story tower with 91 villas, 75 of which are now available.

In Remembrance: Roger Foster

RDO would like to pay tribute to Roger Foster, one of the organisation’s two lifetime members and a key figure in the timeshare industry, who sadly passed away in January following a short illness at the age of 91.



American Timeshare Associations Partner to Educate Consumers

The American Resort Development Association (ARDA), which represents developers, and the National Timeshare Owners Association (NTOA), which represents owners, have joined forces to educate consumers about the value and benefits of vacation ownership.
 
Working together, ARDA and NTOA plan to use timeshare owners to highlight the benefits of vacation ownership through their own stories and experiences.


New Writer for GoTimeshare.org

RDO has appointed London based writer and journalist Fiona Klonarides to provide regular content for GoTimeshare.org and its sister website  www.gofractional.org, including in-depth articles and insightful comment about every aspect of the timeshare industry and fractional ownership.



RDO Opens Up Council Meetings to Members

From next month, RDO members will be allowed to attend any of the meetings held regularly by the association's Communications, Legislative and Membership Councils, as a new initiative introduced by RDO this year.
 
Any members interested in taking part in the Council meetings, or who wish to bring forward a specific topic for discussion, will simply need to notify the chair of the relevant Council and/or the secretariat of their intention to attend at least 30 days in advance according to the RDO Statutes, in order to regulate numbers.
