As excited youngsters flew down the water slides into the inviting swimming pools at CLC World’s Kusadasi Golf & Spa Resort a very special group of mums and dads joined in the fun.
A 46 strong party of military personnel and their families recently spent a fabulous week at our Turkish resort – a holiday arranged in partnership with the Give Us Time initiative, which provides holidays to allow armed service families to recover from the trauma of combat and to adjust to life together in a quality holiday environment.
Nine families were chosen from The Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment based in Aldershot and a further six soldiers and their families from the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, where Fusilier Lee Rigby served, were also selected to enjoy a holiday break in the sun.
A video of the families enjoying themselves was shown at a reception in December at the House of Lords hosted by the initiative’s founder, former defence secretary Dr Liam Fox. And it was here that CLC World was delighted to announce its ongoing commitment to the project, by pledging another 20 weeks of holiday availability for 2016 spread across our resorts in the UK, Spain, Tenerife, US, Austria and Turkey.
CLC World was one of the first to sign up to provide holiday accommodation to the Give us Time Initiative since its launch three years ago. It provided the very first holiday, in Tenerife, and is one of the charity’s biggest supporters.
CLC Kusadasi Golf & Spa Resort’s Senior Operations Manager Ozgur Guzel said: “it was our great pleasure to make sure that all the families had a wonderful week and we hope that the mums, dads and youngsters had a memorable time. When the day came for them to leave it was sad to say goodbye. It was an honour to serve them, and a privilege to be part of this charity project.”
Karen Hay, Chief Executive for Give Us Time, said: “We were delighted to take these brave men and women and their families out to Turkey for a much deserved holiday. After long periods of separation from loved ones, what better way to reconnect than to spend a week together on holiday? It was a real Turkish Delight.”
CLC World Managing Director Martyn Aldridge said: “Our service personnel do an immensely difficult job and it is important to show our appreciation of that. We applaud the ongoing work of Dr Liam Fox and his team and are firmly committed to supporting the charity’s activities by making available 20 more weeks of holiday accommodation for 2016 for the Give Us Time space bank.”
CLC World was represented at the UK House of Lords during December, joining other benefactors at the charity’s invitation for a celebration of their commitment to this cause. Ms Hay said: “Businesses have the power to make a marked difference to those deployed on operational tours.
