RDO Helps Consumers Who Lost Money To Resale Company Visions Of The World

Following a lengthy investigation conducted by the RDO Secretariat, Visions of the World (VOTW) based in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, was asked to step down from membership at the end of 2013. This request was made in light of the company’s failure to resolve consumer complaints as well as its failure to refund monies to consumers where instructed to do so by RDO. VOTW was in breach not only of the RDO Code of Conduct but also the European Timeshare Directive.

In cases such as this, whilst it is generally better for the consumer if companies remain in membership so that RDO can work with the directors to resolve outstanding issues, if it is clear that the company will not change its practices and continues to deceive customers, RDO has no option but to instigate a formal enquiry, which can ultimately lead to expulsion.

Since its resignation, RDO has continued to assist VOTW customers in obtaining refunds where necessary, frequently through Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, if payment was made by credit card.
