Tourism Alliance, which RDO became a member of in January last year, has issued an overview of tourism in the UK and its contributions to the economy.
The publication, ‘UK Tourism Statistics 2012’, was launched at the Tourism Alliance annual Parliamentary Reception on March 12th, which Chief Executive Paul Gardner Bougaard attended.
The report shows that expenditure by tourists in the UK reached a record £125bn in 2011, £16bn higher than previously.
Also revealed is that the UK is the sixth largest international tourism destination ranked by visitor numbers and is the seventh largest international tourism destination ranked by visitor expenditure, the first six being the USA, Spain, France, China, Italy and Germany.
The document also contains some useful statistics on three of the main issues that Tourism Alliance is working on at the moment – VAT, APD and Visas.
The document is available to RDO members only from Sue McNicol firstname.lastname@example.org
