Interval International has strengthened its presence in South Africa with the opening of a regional resort sales and service office in Cape Town, demonstrating the company’s commitment to this country, which is considered one of the new emerging markets.
Interval first arrived in South Africa in 2008 through an affiliation agreement with SunSwop, the Lifestyle Resorts division of hotelier Southern Sun. Since then, the company has added Zorgvliet Private Residence Club and Mjejane Game Reserve near Kruger to its network. In addition, Club Prive at Cape Royal Luxury Hotel and Residence in Cape Town recently joined Interval’s Preferred Residences luxury exchange programme.
Last November, Interval held a series of one-day Shared Ownership Investment Conferences in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg to help stimulate interest in the region and capitalise on potential opportunities, attracting prospective new developers from across the area.
According to VOASA, the Vacation Ownership Association of Southern Africa, there are about 200 resorts and approximately 260,000 timeshare owners in the region.
