You will recall that the new Spanish law was passed as a matter of urgency as a Royal Decree and is now following due processes in both parliamentary chambers. While the law is in full force, Parliament still has the opportunity to make amendments to the law. A paper was published with a list of suggested changes from various political parties, some of which would have been extremely troublesome to operators, as well as confusing in other respects, were they to find their way into the law.
We are glad to report that RDO’s Spanish lobbying team has managed to persuade the Spanish authorities to exclude all but a few of the proposed amendments, and those that are left are not ones that should cause us any headaches.
We will report more when the Senate has reviewed but we anticipate no material changes.
