As part of a drive to improve consumer representation following the closure of TATOC earlier this year, RDO has been working with AIPP (The Association of International Property Professionals) on the creation of a new website for owners of holiday homes, with a section of the site dedicated to timeshare ownership via a new alliance AIPO (Association of International Property Owners).
We are delighted to announce that the new site www.aipo.org.uk was officially launched by AIPP during “A Place in the Sun Live” over the weekend of 11-13thMay at London Olympia, which attracted some 8,500+ visitors and the trade.
AIPP CEO, Peter Robinson, said: “AIPP has a focus on the need to ‘Buy right, own well’ through its members. As an association, we felt that the time was right to create a new alliance to help support British owners of a foreign property and timeshare. While ex-pats often have a locally supportive community, British-resident owners have no collective voice or definitive place to go for information and support should they need it.”
The AIPO has a focus on four key areas for buyers and owners:
- Knowledge and support – free guides and legal advice
- Savings and offers – to lower the cost of ownership
- Representation to Governments – as required
- Community hub – sharing information
Blog articles will focus on ownership case studies (which will include balanced and fair editorial on timeshare ownership), lifestyle pieces and the latest industry news from verified members of the trade.
RDO CEO, Paul Gardner Bougaard said “RDO is delighted to be working with AIPP to set up this new owners site that will be independent of the industry. We have been aware of the need for a site such as this for some time and it will form part of the industry’s strategy to offer timeshare owners their own voice and representation.”
Membership of the AIPO is free for buyers and owners to join (in its launch phase) and will be later offered to founder members at a discounted rate.
AIPO Members will receive special offers from select partners to support them both ‘home and away’, lowering their cost of ownership. Launch partners include Clear Currency and Blevins Franks. More will be added soon. The ‘home’ launch offer for founding members is a complimentary 12-month membership to the Luxury Restaurant Club in the UK. Timeshare owners also benefit from a discounted travel insurance scheme from Leisure Guard Insurance, offering refunds on timeshare annual management charges and a rebate on their purchase price.
