The ‘Pequeño Valiente’ tournament held at Anfi Tauro Golf, sponsored by Messi and Silva raised €14,300

The Pequeño Valiente (Brave Little Ones) solidarity tournament sponsored by Leo Messi and David Silva, which was held over the weekend of 18th May at Anfi Tauro Golf raised over €14,300.  The participants again this year gave a strike of solidarity on the Anfi Tauro course, to help families of children suffering from cancer in one of the most traditional golf tournaments in Gran Canaria.  “It is always a pleasure to help those that need it most” assured Silva, whose own cousin Cinthia passed away after a battle with cancer several years ago. During the emotional day, a score of children who have overcome this disease took the opportunity to have their first swim in the Anfi Emerald Club pools in the warm Canarian sunshine, accompanied by Daida and Iballa Ruano, world champion windsurfers.  The twin sisters hosted a fun auction during the cocktail time at La Cascada restaurant and where the highlights were football player Messi’ team jersey, which was auctioned for €550, as well as various items donated by David Silva, Gareth Bale or Joaquín, all of whom sponsored this benefic tournament.

“Cancer is not a time for administration, it’s a time for everyone to show solidarity”, with this statement the eighth edition of the Pequeño Valiente tournament was drawn to a close by José Jerez represent of the association for children with cancer, after an emotional day full of surprises.

The main prize on the day was a gold ring with precious stones, donated by Elios jewellers awarded to the winner of the tournament, Jorge Cristóbal.  “All round it has been a great day.  Full of emotion, a great show of solidarity, supporting local companies have been highlighted and all involved have given the best of themselves to support those that most need it” said José Luis Trujillo, General Manager of the Anfi Group accompanied by Pequeño Valiente representatives Reyes López and José Jerez.  “We give our utmost appreciation for the generosity from all of  the collaborating companies, especially Anfi, the company that for almost a decade have given all their support to the Pequeño Valiente non-profit organization, while striving to comply with their social commitments via the project ‘Anfi Cares’, as highlighted by the charity representatives.
