Harbour Flights takes to the skies of Ireland

Harbour Flights, Ireland’s first sea plane service, has taken to the skies on its maiden flight.

Based at Mountshannon, in Co Clare, some seven miles from East Clare Gold Holiday Village, an RCI affiliate and one of its most popular resorts in the country, Harbour Flights offers scenic tours of stunning Lough Derg and surrounding areas including King John’s Castle in Limerick, the Burren and the majestic Cliffs of Moher.

Five years in the planning, Harbour Flights is the brainchild of CEO, Emelyn Heaps, an aviation enthusiast and Clare resident with extensive tourism expertise.

He said: “Our intention is to connect Ireland through its waterways, lakes, rivers, and estuaries by offering scenic flights that criss-cross the country.

“This is one of the most exciting Irish tourism innovations in many years. We want this service to make the citizens of Ireland proud.”

When fully operational, Harbour Flights will create up to 50 new jobs in Ireland. This ground-breaking tourism initiative, showcasing Ireland from a wholly unique perspective, will maximise visitor experience while allowing for quick and easy transfers between key destinations. While initially based in Clare, plans are advanced to expand further afield into Dublin, Galway, Limerick, Foynes, and Cork.

In its first year of operation, Harbour Flights will carry 10,000 passengers across Irish skies and will be a major attraction for the towns and cities in which it is based.
