Stars and Pars fundraising event hosted by Wyndham Destinations passes $1 million milestone for Give Kids The World Village

Wyndham Destinations (NYSE:WYND), the world’s largest vacation ownership and exchange company, announced that the seventh annual Stars and Pars Weekend fundraising event to benefit Give Kids The World Village, raised more than $400,000, bringing the total funds raised through this event to more than $1.1 million.

For the past seven years, Wyndham Destinations has sponsored the Stars and Pars Weekend— a community fundraising event for Give Kids The World Village which is one of the non-profit’s largest fundraising events. The event is named for the stars that are given to each child who visits the Village, which are left behind and displayed in the Castle of Miracles on the property.

The Stars and Pars weekend began as an informal gathering in 2013, with a few Wyndham employees who played golf for fun and then donated $1,500 to the Village. This year, Stars and Pars welcomed 128 golfers and 300 guests to the Waldorf Astoria Orlando for golf and a gala dinner featuring a live and silent auction. More than 50 companies sponsored and participated in this year’s golf tournament and gala.

“The magic of Give Kids The World Village comes from the caring volunteers who share our mission of providing a place where happiness inspires hope,” said Pamela Landwirth, president and CEO of Give Kids The World. “We appreciate the time, treasure, and talents of everyone who has made this event one of the largest fundraising events for our organization.”

Give Kids The World Village is an 84-acre, non-profit “storybook” resort in Kissimmee, Fla., where children with critical illnesses and their families are treated to weeklong, cost-free vacations. Each year, 27,000 children in the U.S. are diagnosed with a critical illness — half of all children eligible for a wish through a wish-granting organization choose to visit Central Florida and its collection of theme parks and other attractions.

“Give Kids The World Village is close to many people’s hearts here in our home city of Orlando.,” said Michael D. Brown, president and CEO of Wyndham Destinations. “We are incredibly proud to support the efforts of this remarkable organization and are very pleased that this year’s event saw the highest attendance and largest contribution in support of this amazing organization.”

This year’s Partnering Sponsors were Hilton and Waldorf Astoria Orlando Bonnet Creek, PSAV, Corserva, Innovative Construction, iHeart Media, and Cigna.

Wyndham Destinations captures the passion and commitment of the company’s mission to put the world on vacation through our spirit of philanthropy. With a focus on providing families the ability to vacation together year after year, Wyndham Destinations supports charitable organizations with a similar goal.
