4th Walkathon for Water to feature 20 charity walks to improve access to drinking water
The We Are Water Foundation and 27 resorts managed by Hilton Grand Vacations Inc. (HGV) in Europe, Mexico, and the United Kingdom, announce the fourth edition of Walkathon for Water, a charitable initiative featuring 20 charity walks in Spain, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Portugal, and Austria. These walks, scheduled between May and November 2026, aim to raise funds for two projects focused on improving access to clean water and sanitation in India and Mexico.
Lack of access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation remains one of the main threats to children’s health in many regions of the world. Every day, more than 1,000 children die from diseases linked to the consumption of contaminated water, while more than 2 billion people still live without safe access to this essential resource.
The Walkathon for Water events aim to raise awareness and inspire community action. Each participant will walk a distance between 4 to 6 kilometers, which represents the journey that millions of children around the world take every day to fetch water for their families.
The initiative seeks to turn this symbolic gesture into real impact by generating funds to support projects that bring drinking water to vulnerable communities, helping to improve their quality of life.
All funds raised will go to two projects in India and Mexico, directly benefiting more than 5.000 people in vulnerable situations.
To take part, participants must register on the Walkathon for Water 2026 website and make a minimum donation of €5. They may also register on the day of the event at designated locations.
