Barcelona, 2nd May 2025. –We Are Water Foundation and 26 resorts managed by Hilton Grand Vacations Inc. (NYSE: HGV) in Europe and the U.K.,announce the third edition of Walkathon For Water, a charity initiative featuring 19 fundraising walks across Spain, the U.K., France, Italy, Portugal, and Austria. These walks, scheduled between May and November 2025, aim to raise funds for two projects designed to improve access to clean water and sanitation in Colombia and India.
Water scarcity and poor sanitation conditions are key factors in child malnutrition and the spread of life-threatening diseases that affect millions worldwide. Over 1,000 children die every day from diseases caused by a lack of clean water, and globally, more than 2 billion people lack access to safe drinking water.
Charity walks to improve access to water
Beyond implementing projects that facilitate access to clean water and proper sanitation, Walkathon For Water aims to improve the lives of people in communities affected by water scarcity through education and the promotion of responsible and sustainable habits.
In addition to directly impacting these communities, the initiative seeks to raise public awareness about the importance of preserving and using water responsibly. It does so by highlighting a powerful statistic: the number six. On average, millions of children in Africa, Asia, and Latin America must walk six kilometers every day to fetch clean water.
All funds raised will be dedicated to two projects in India and Colombia, directly benefiting more than 3,100 vulnerable people. In India, the resources will be used to restore water sources for farmers affected by drought and promote sustainable agricultural practices in Dhone Mandal, Nandyal district. In Colombia, the support will help rehabilitate the potable water supply system and promote hygiene and sanitation habits in Los Moreneros community.
To participate in the initiative, individuals must register on the Walkathon For Water 2025 website and make a minimum donation of €5 or sign up on-site on the day of the walk at designated locations.
