What you can expect at RDO7 Conference 2016
This year’s conference RDO7 promises to be one of the best yet, with a host of talented motivational speakers and industry leaders set to inspire and entertain you, during a variety of different speeches and sessions. The theme of this year’s conference is “Taking Ownership” with an emphasis on taking charge of your own game. This is true from both an industry and individual standpoint and is set to challenge the audience and those within the timeshare industry to look to themselves as to how to improve and evolve. It is often all too easy to blame others, the economic environment around...

ITRA sued by timeshare owners and ordered to refund payments in full
ITRA (International Timeshare Refund Action) was taken to court by a retired couple this June and having considered the evidence, the judge ruled that the contract signed by the consumers was invalid. ITRA was ordered to refund the couple’s payments and to pay their costs. Harold and Brenda Walker were cold called by ITRA in 2014 and invited to attend a presentation to discuss how to take part in a no-win, no-fee claim for compensation against their timeshare resort. The Walkers were falsely told during the presentation that their timeshare contract was in perpetuity and their children would become liable for the...
ASA ruling on European Claims Centre LLC, trading as Timeshare Advice Centre
KwikChex, as part of the Timeshare Task Force initiative, challenged whether the claims on the website for Timeshare Advice Centre that the team had "a wealth of experience” in helping [timeshare] customers and "had already helped a high number” of timeshare, points and fractional owners looking for a way out of their contracts were misleading and could be substantiated. The ASA considered that consumers were likely to interpret the claims to mean that Timeshare Advice Centre had significant experience in assisting timeshare owners to solve issues regarding their timeshares, including contractual issues, and that the assistance was given solely by TAC...

Technology is about people
As Steve Clarke explains in this video recorded at the timeshare resort Pearly Grey Ocean Club in Tenerife, rather than focusing on technology as something separate from people, it should be seen as a positive part of the way we now live. Modern advances in communications technology such as free messaging services and social media, offer an outstanding way of increasing our connections with others around the world. Barriers can be broken down, bringing us all closer together. For the travel and timeshare industry, these forms of communication are also an amazing tool for enhancing the way we interact and connect...
On BBC bias woes and timeshare
I like to think that I have always been a firm defender of the BBC and its independence and objectivity. But I must say I’m having second thoughts after my experience when I was asked to go on its “BBC5 Live Investigates” on the morning of Sunday 13th March. Admittedly the previous item overran its time slot and our scheduled 30 minute piece on the “- problems of timeshare perpetuity (sic) contracts and owners’ inability to exit” was reduced to about 20 minutes. But I still don’t believe this entitled the producer and presenter to devote some 17 of those 20 minutes...
Dedication of the Ron Haylock Music Room in South Africa
11th November 2015 was a very special day for Christel House South Africa. Christel DeHaan was paying her annual visit and during a Special Assembly held for the School's friends and donors, she was personally able to dedicate the Ron Haylock Music Room in tribute to him as a passionate lover of music and supporter of Christel House. As well as academic accomplishments, the Special Assembly celebrated dance, drama and of course music. The School Band accompanied the programme and played their hearts out. The younger children played beautifully on their recorders and the Marching Bank ceremoniously accompanied guests to and...
Is It All About To Change?
How many times have we in this industry thought this I wonder? Are we about to experience one such moment next week? What on earth am I going on about (I do wonder myself). Over the last few months, we have watched claims companies here in the UK and also in Spain, as PPI business here in the UK winds down, look for other sources of business and have turned their attention to timeshare as a possible source of income. The Claims Working Group has pulled together remarkably well as Eugene Miskelly said at the conference, reacting rapidly to changing tactics...
RDO YouTube Promotional Video
RDO has added a new video to the official RDO YouTube channel as part of its ongoing social media drive to educate the public about the benefits of the timeshare lifestyle. In the video, RDO chief executive Paul Gardner-Bougaard highlights the role the Resort Development Organisation plays within the industry as the official trade association for all the major developers in the EU who offer timeshare, and explains why it is important that consumers only purchase from RDO member companies. Describing the timeshare product itself, Paul says: “In terms of the quality of accommodation and experience, we don’t think it can be bettered...
